INTRODUCTION: After 5 years successful experience of wealth management and financial services for the social elites, China Merchants Bank (CMB)began its preparation for more prestigious private banking clients in 2006.CMB employed an internationally reputed advisory company to set up a strategic plan, built a service system and a processing flow, train selected talent from inside the bank as private bankers and form a professional financial advisory team of senior experts from all over the world for private banking. In August 2007, CMB launched private banking services across the country with the first establishment of the Private Banking Center at it's headquarter office in Shenzhen and was immediately accepted by the market and other banks. CMB has won a number of honors, including "Best Bank of China", "Best Retailing Bank of China", and "Gold Medal for Wealth Managing Bank" from various financial institutions and the media during the last few years. It was awarded "the Best Private bank in China " by《ERUOMONEY》in February 2009. Afterwards ,another Private Banking Center was established and opened to the public in Beijing, which was followed by Shanghai, Hangzhou, Harbin ,Shenzhen. Tianjin and Nanjing .More dignified centers are under the construction .Clients in those centers are entitled to the facilities and services with distinctive local cultural elements and confidentiality. The core competition of CMB is the constant innovation based on local market. As to the private banking services, we also announced "we are here just for you". In future, we will continue our research on the domestic private banking client market, follow up market changes, constantly further our understanding of the attitudes and needs of our clients, gain a better insight into the law regulating market and make constant innovation in response to client needs.
