With the booming of the financial markets and financial institutions, Chinese financial assets have jumped from 2.5 trillion USD to over 10 trillion USD over the past 10 years, which now accounts for 5% of the global financial assets.

Following the principle of “Changes as situation does”, CMB formed the Financial Institutions Department at the head office in 2000, on the basis of which it set up the Financial Institutions Department in 8 branches later on, providing services to 8 kinds of institutional customers: Overseas-funded Bank(700 corresponding banks), Chinese Bank(200), Securities Company(100), Financial Company(70), Trust and Investment company(40), Fund Management Company(15) and Insurance Company(62) as well as other non-banking financial institutions like financial leasing and automobile financing company.

Products for financial institutions have also been enriched from only liability business to liability business, asset business and fee-based business and are all gaining momentum. In 2008, the averaged daily deposit balance of financial institutions topped 200 billion Yuan and the averaged daily assets balance nearly reached 200 billion Yuan with other fee-based income like third party depository and credit assets transfer surpassing 600 million Yuan. All these products created a profit of over 5 billion Yuan, making up 20% of CMB’s total profits in 2008.

From 2009, CMB launched new services like FI Yinhe Wealth Management and Agency Gold, which have reached remarkable achievements and are highly welcomed by the market, thus sharpening our competitive edge among peers.
