Credit Card Functions

Credit services:
(1) Cash withdrawals
1. Introduction
Cash withdrawal is a basic function provided by CMB to enable customers to borrow cash using their CMB credit card. You only need to enable the cash borrowing function and set a transaction password through the following channels without depositing cash in advance:
  • 1)
ATMs or financial institutions that provide cash services for emergency needs
  • 2)
The 400 820 5555 hotline or CMB Online Banking enables you to transfer money from a credit card account to an All-In-One card account for emergency card payments or money transfer
2. Cash borrowing limit
The cash borrowing limit is based on your credit card and is included in the credit card's credit line. Generally, the borrowing limit is up to 50% of your credit limit.
You can borrow RMB2,000 or USD1,000 abroad using a credit card each day. You can cumulatively borrow USD5,000 and USD10,000 at most in one and six months respectively.
3. Channels
ATM/CMB branches: available when the credit card service was released
Telephone: since April 1, 2009, and the earliest telephone borrowing channel in China
Online: December 2009
4. Target customers
ATM/counter: all customers
Telephone/online banking: CMB credit card and All-In-One card users
5. Advantages
High convenience and availability without approval or time restrictions
A high borrowing limit of up to 50% of the credit limit
Diverse channels including ATMs, counters, telephone and online banking
Cumulative bonus points
6. Costs of cash borrowing
The commission for borrowing Renminbi in China is 1% of the borrowed amount at a minimum charge of RMB10. The commission for borrowing cash in an overseas country (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) is 3% of the borrowed amount at a minimum of RMB30 or USD3.
A grace period does not apply to the service. Compound interest is calculated from the transaction date to the date when the borrowed amount is fully repaid at a daily interest rate of 0.05%.
(2) Revolving credit
1. Introduction of revolving credit
As a basic feature of credit cards, revolving credit allows card holders to decide how much to repay in each monthly bill cycle before the payment due date. When the repaid amount is equal to or higher than the minimum repayment for the current debit bill, the remaining repayable amount will be accounted for in revolving credit. If the card holder uses revolving credit, the current debit bill does not enjoy a grace period and will bear monthly compound interest at a daily interest rate of 0.05% from the debit accounting date to the repayment date.
2. Target customers and available time
Revolving credit is available for all credit card users.
3. Advantages
Revolving credit requires no application or pledge, and increases when funds are repaid.
4. Calculation of minimum repayable amount
The minimum repayable amount is generally 10% of the credit card's general balance, plus the repayable part of the minimum repayment for the previous period, the part in excess of the credit line, and all fees and interest. Fees include the annual fee, commission on cash withdrawals and registering lost cards, late fees, card slip inquiries and replacing damaged cards. If you have two or more credit cards from one card issuer, the monthly minimum repayable amount is the sum of all your credit cards' minimum repayable amounts.
(3) Store installment
1. Definition
When CMB credit card holders buy products or services at CMB's partner stores that allow payments by installments, CMB credit card holders can pay their bills in 3, 6, 12,18 or 24 installments (months). Each installment is accounted in the monthly debit bill for the credit card. The payment mode is store installment.
2. History of store installment
Store installments were initiated by CMB in October 2004. The first store that supported this payment mode was HOLA.
3 Advantages
This payment mode enables customers to enjoy high quality of life at reduced financial burden. It features an express procedure without the need to provide a pledge or sign a control guarantee. Customers simply need to swipe their credit cards on a POS machine to pay a bill.
4. Target customers
Given the advantages mentioned above, this payment mode mainly applies to the following three categories: A. Customers sensitive to financial burdens; B. Customers with strong wealth management awareness; C. Young people.
5. Commission
The commission for the service varies between stores. In some cases, the commission is borne by the store, while in others it is borne by the customer.
(4) Bill installment
1. Introduction
Bill installment is to allow eligible card holders to repay their debit bills in installments, including transactions that have not been processed yet and also issued bills.
2. Application time
You can apply for bill installments between the transaction date and payment due date.
You can apply for bill installments for a transaction that has not been processed yet between the transaction date and the day before the accounting date of the corresponding bill, excluding transactions on the accounting date or the day before the accounting date. If the store fails to settle the payment with CMB within two days of the application, the application is rejected automatically.
You can apply for bill installments for an issued bill between the day after the account date and the payment due date. For customers who enable automatic Renminbi repayments, the application deadline is the second day before the payment due date.
3. Bill installment limits
To apply for bill installments for a transaction that has not been processed, the amount of the transaction must be at least RMB500.
To apply for bill installment for an issued bill, the amount of the bill must not exceed 95% of the total new consumption of the current period (excluding cash borrowing, installment transactions and others specified by CMB).
Bill installment is inapplicable for the following transactions: cash borrowing, installment transactions and related fees such as annual fees, interest, late fees and other credit card fees; transactions that has not been processed yet and others specified by CMB Credit Card Center.
After the credit card holder applies for bill installment, the used credit line is not restored immediately but gradually based on the installments paid by the customer.
4. History of bill installments
The bill installment payment method was released in November 2006. As a new application channel, the online banking channel was initiated in November 2008 for credit card bill installments. In April 2012, we upgraded the service by initiating the prior-bill installment and short message application mode and releasing a series of innovative functions including installment appointments and instant bonus points.
5. Eligible customers by mid-2012
Currently, the service can only be applied for by holders of CMB's master cards, but not holders of business or affiliated cards.
Bill installments require customers to have a sound credit history. To apply for bill installment payments, the applicant must have repaid at least the minimum repayable amount for the previous three bills and fully repaid the bills for the previous two bills. To apply for bill installment payments for a transaction that has not yet been processed, the applicant must have used the card for six months at least, or fully repaid at least one bill. The eligible customer policy may change. Please refer to the assessment of CMB Credit Card Center for the result of a bill installment payment application.
6. Advantages
Payment in installments and a longer grace period
Convenient application channels including short messages, the customer service hotline, online banking and mobile banking;
This payment mode is mainly used for purchases at shopping malls and stores;
Customers can decide whether to repay their bills in installments;
